Lifewise is a South Yorkshire Police led partnership initiative with the Fire Service, Health Service, and Local Authority which promotes community safety and positive citizenship across South Yorkshire.
The Lifewise Centre is a purpose built arena within which scenario based events can be held. The Centre became operational on 18th April 2005 following the dramatic conversion of the building from a former disused steel works into a dynamic and professional set to run realistic scenarios.
The Lifewise Centre presents a fantastic opportunity for learning interactivity in a variety of real life mock settings for all diverse audiences.
The Centre features a life-size three-dimensional street scene complete with houses, a pub, railway, shops and a bus interchange designed to be used to deliver safety and citizenship information, messages and guidance to people of all ages.
The Lifewise Centre is a state of-the-art film set and has been used by media companies and film crews alike in South Yorkshire over the past few years in order to promote various important campaigns (anti-bullying, anti-social behaviour, etc) and highlight safety issues, support positive citizenship and encourage the constructive relationship with the next generation of adults. The Centre is available for organisations who wish to develop imaginative programmes that deal with key issues of modern life, whether they involve personal or community safety or the responsibilities of being a member of society.
Lifewise is a facility open to all, there is no age limit. Please contact the Lifewise Development Manager in order to discuss Centre use criteria and availability.
The Lifewise Centre is the permanent home for the South Yorkshire Police ‘Crucial Crew’ event. Crucial Crew is a life skills initiative that teaches children and young people (primarily year 6 pupils) how to deal with and avoid a range of potentially hazardous situations, as well as crime prevention and accident safety by means of interactive learning in a role based realistic environment.
